My Soundclash Experience

Last night was one of the last Soundclash music events that happens every Wednesday night and I went along to check out what goes on behind the scenes. Before hand I would sit at home watching the event happen on Stratcast.co.uk not realising how much effort is really put into the programme, so here’s my review about the night ….

The event happens at Cox’s Yard , a music venue based in Stratford upon Avon, since it was my first time there , I must admit I was very impressed. , the venue was open and didn’t feel as cramped as some venues do. The team work surrounding the programme was effortless and everyone involved made it look easier than it was.

Soundclash 2011

The night had three main acts that competed against each other in the result of getting to the final in two weeks time. After each act performed, the presenters Wayne Bartlett and Sophy Blount had a witty chat with the bands before moving on the next performance. The atmosphere was chilled and I didn’t feel uncomfortable and out of place as I usually feel when I go to gigs.

After attending the event Soundclash I realised how much it means to the bands that perform there. Cox’s yard is the one place for bands who are based in and around Stratford to build up their fan base and ultimately gain more gigs. Having soundclash is a bonus, with the programme streaming live on Ustream and the stratcast website its easy for anyone to view the programme and check out what’s going on.

Next week is the semi finals, so watch this space for more updates on the soundclash experience.
